My Name is Alana Banks

I am 22 years old and I studied photography at West Suffolk College for 2 years in Suffolk where I am based. I graduated in 2024 from Kingston University with a BA Hons Photography Degree.

My passion is portraiture, lifestyle and Wedding photography but I do like to explore other genres. For me, photography is more than a way of making memories- it’s an art that can be made in imaginable ways. Photography is a way of expressing myself and I enjoy exploring the boundaries of image making. Whenever I embark on a new project I allow the viewer to come on a journey with me.

Four photographers that inspire me are; Benjamin Wheeler, Phoebe Piper, Rebecca Carpenter and Madison Emily Hare. These specific photographers are my inspirations not just for their unreal unique photography but for the way they have built their businesses.

In July 2019 I set off on an expedition to Africa with a company called Far Frontiers. This trip was a once in a life time experience to explore and see Africa in a unique way. We started in Johannesburg and ended up in Zambia at Victoria falls. Whilst on my adventure in Africa I was taking photos and learning to live in the wild bush of Botswana. The experience was surreal and unforgettable. This was portrayed in the photography I brought home which conveyed a wide variety of emotions that will stay in with me in memory forever.
